About me

Hi, I'm Janitta.

I'm a pediatric speech-language pathologist with SpeechEase at the Richmond and Burnaby clinics. I completed my Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology at the University of British Columbia, and I'm registered with the College of Health and Care Professionals of BC (CHCPBC) and a member of Speech-Language and Audiology Canada (SAC).

I work with children from early intervention through school age, supporting autistic children, children with speech sound disorders, language delays and fluency disorders (stuttering), and children who use Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC). My therapy sessions are play-based and child-led, and I enjoy walking alongside families and collaborating with their team to support your communication needs together.

Outside of work, you'll usually find me exploring cafes and spending time with my family and friends.

How I work

What you can expect from me

My practice is child-led, family-centred, neurodiversity-affirming and strength-based. In everyday terms, that means three things.

Janitta working with a child as a paediatric speech language pathologist

Child-led

Children learn through play, so that's where our sessions happen. I follow your child's interests and build communication into what they already love doing.

Family-centred

You know your child best. I treat families as partners and decision-makers, prioritize what matters to you, and make sure strategies fit into real routines at home and at school.

Neurodiversity-affirming and strength-based

Every child already communicates in some way. I start from those strengths and build on how your child already connects, rather than trying to change who they are.
